With the season coming to an end earlier this week, I took time to reflect on our season and I can undoubtedly say I am proud.
First, none of this would have been possible if it hadn’t been for my wife moving to KY with me. The way she took care of our house and girls this summer basically as a single parent is nothing short of amazing. Secondly, I am proud of how our guys conducted themselves on/off the field. They were respectful, hard-working, and represented their family/school and Madisonville, KY well. From putting on, pulling off, and putting on the tarp to raking up the thatch filled outfield to working the infield dirt for 3 hours trying to get it ready for a game, our guys diligently worked. Third, I’m proud of how my coaches and I ran the pitching staff. Only one pitcher ever threw more than 85 pitches all summer. Our pitchers will go back to their schools fresh and ready to compete in the fall. My staff and I made sure to maintain trust with coaches that their players wouldn’t throw 100/110/120+ pitches and set their guys back for the fall. Finally, I am proud of how our guys competed. There were times where our guys could have cashed it in or stopped fighting; however, there wasn’t a time where us coaches can recall our guys giving away at bats or innings. They fought and they never quit; something I hope they continue at their schools.
