Miners and Oilers End Early

The Miners and Oilers planned to play a doubleheader on Wednesday night at Elmer Kelley, but a strong early afternoon thunderstorm wreaked havoc on the playing field.

By the time the field was ready for play, both teams agreed to play just one ballgame, which got underway at 8:15pm CT.

The Oilers took an early 3-0 lead, and then exploded for nine more runs to lead the Miners 12-0 after five innings. At the conclusion of fifth inning, upon the agreement of both head coaches and the umpiring crew, the game was ended under the NCAA Ten Run Rule.
