Miners Hold On To Win in Hoptown 11-10

The Miners scored five runs in the top of the first inning and held on from there for the 11-10 victory over the Hoppers in Hopkinsville on Saturday night. The complete box score and game summary is available here: July 15 – Miners 11, Hoppers 10

The Madisonville win, coupled with a loss by the Paducah Chiefs, moved the Miners into the third place in the OVL West standings with three regular season games remaining. The Miners (17-20) trail second place Fulton (17-19) by just 1/2 game. The Chiefs (16-20) sit in the fourth spot in the division, 1/2 game behind the Miners. Hoptown sits in first place, four games ahead of Fulton.

The Miners wind up the regular season with a three game home stand beginning Sunday night against the Hoppers. Monday night the Paducah Chiefs visit Elmer Kelley, and the Miners then host the Hoppers again on Tuesday night to close of the regular season.
