Miners Lose In Hoptown Monday Night
The Hoppers (16-1) ran their winning streak to nine games with a 4-3 victory over the Miners (8-6) on Monday night in Hoptown.
The play of the game occurred in the top of the seventh with the score tied 3-3. With runners on first and second and one out, Nolan Ramsey popped up to the Hopper shortstop, who intentionally misplayed the ball by knocking it down with his bare hand and allowing the ball to drop safely. The Hoppers then turned a 6-5-4 double play to end the inning and kill the Miner rally. Apparently the Infield Fly Rule was not in effect.
The Hoppers picked up the winning run on a sacrifice fly by Andrew Goss in the bottom of the 8th inning.
