Miners Over Chiefs 7-5, Extend Wins to Five Straight

Miners Riding Five Game Winning Streak

The Miners scored six runs in the top of the first inning, added another in top of the second, and held on from there to defeat the Chiefs 7-5 in Paducah Tuesday.

Genesis Hillard continued his tear at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one run scored and two runs batted in. Joe McGuinness added two RBI of his own, hitting 1-for-2 with a run scored. Nolan Ramsey went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI as well.

On the mound, starter Brandon Dusenberry pitched six complete innings to earn the Win. Dusenberry allowed four runs, all earned, on six hits and four strikeouts. Chase Hensley pitched two innings of relief, allowing only one hit, and Casey Elbin pitched a perfect 9th inning to slam the door on the Chiefs and grab the Save.

Miners Tied In Standings, Five Back Of Hoppers

The win marked the fifth straight for the Miners (17-10), who moved into a second place tie with the Oilers (17-10). The Madisonville win, coupled with a Hoptown loss to Dubois County Tuesday night, put the Miners only five games back of the Hoppers (22-5) in the OVL standings.

Miners Host Oilers Thursday; Start Time 5:30pm CT

The Miners get an off day on Wednesday before hosting the Oilers at Elmer Kelley Stadium on Thursday, July 7. The start time of the ballgame has been moved up to 5:30pm CT in order to accommodate the City of Madisonville’s re-scheduled 4th Fest fireworks show, which will begin at approximately 9pm Thursday night. Admission to the ballgame will be FREE for everyone!
