Miners Split Two in Hopkinsville Thursday Night

Madisonville Miners 4, Hopkinsville Hoppers 2  – game 1 in 7 innings. 

In Game One of the doubleheader, the Miners held on to beat the Hoppers in Hopkinsville. After three innings of play, Madisonville clung to 2-1 until the seventh and final inning. In the top of the seventh the Miners added 2 insurance runs from 3 singles and a ground out RBI for 4-1 lead.  In the bottom half of the seventh the Hoppers managed one more run on a Ernie de la Trinidad solo home run, but it was too little to late.  Drew Mullinax takes the win on the mound going six innings. Colin Hudson picked up the save throwing for the final inning.  The loss goes to Parker Cash for five innings with Jordan Martin completing the last two innings for Hoptown. Box Scores Click Here.

Hopkinsville Hoppers 11, Madisonville Miners 5 – game 2 in 7 innings. 

The Hoppers came alive to win the night cap game of the doubleheader powering past the Miners early in the game.  Hoptown pounded out 9 runs through the first 4 innings of play using 9 hits and one Miner error.  The Miners finally got going in the fifth innings putting up 4 runs taking advantage of 3 Hopper errors and a RBI single.  The Hoppers added 2 more runs in the bottom of the fifth for their final talley. Madisonville picked up their final run in the seventh.  Three Hoppers had doubles in the game; Mitch Gallager with 2 along with one each for Will Olson and Ernie de la Trinidad.  The Miners received one double on the evening off the bat of Shane Connahan.  The winning pitcher for Hoptown was Nick Eggemeyer for 5 innings. The loss for Madisonville goes to Yancey Pritchett who went 1 2/3 innings.  Box Scores Click Here.
