The Miners took both sides of a doubleheader against the Muhlenberg County Stallions on Saturday night at Elmer Kelley Stadium. The sweep extended Madisonville’s winning streak to seven games in row and moved the Miners (19-10) into sole possession of second place in the OVL standings, only 4.5 games behind the Hoptown Hoppers (23-5). The losses dropped the Stallions to 4-25.
Game 1 – Miners 3, Stallions 2 (seven innings)
Mitchell Bault picked up a Win in relief of starter Jose Fernandez, as the Miners scored all three of their runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for a comeback win over the Stallions.
After Genesis Hillard drew a bases loaded walk to drive in the first Miner run of the inning, Wesley Birchmeier drove in two runs with a stand-up double center. Bault shut the Stallions down from there to preserve the lead and earn the victory.

Game 2 – Miners 3, Stallions 2 (seven innings)
Madisonville took an early 2-0 lead before surrendering two runs in the top of the fourth to tie the game back up. The score stayed tied 2-2 until Joe McGuinness doubled and drove in the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Dylan Givens pitched six complete innings to get the Win, and Justin Whitley pitched the scoreless seventh to earn his first Save of the season.

Bombers Visit Elmer Kelley Sunday Night
The Miners host the Dubois County Bombers (17-11) on Sunday night. The game gets underway at 7:00pm CT and will be broadcast on our TEAMLINE site for those that cannot make it to the stadium.
