Miners Win 14-7 Over Bombers Friday Night

The Miners (11-7) gained sole possession of third place in the OVL standings with a 14-7 victory over the Bombers (10-8) last night at Elmer Kelley Stadium.

Madisonville jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Bombers then answered with three of their own in the top of the third to tie the score at 3-3.

The score was not tied long however, as the Miners erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the inning to take an 11-3 lead after three innings. The Bombers chipped away at the lead and trailed 11-7 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning, where Madisonville put the game out of reach with three insurance runs.

Nolan Ramsey led the Miners at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and four runs scored. Chase Hensley continued his hot hitting, batting 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Genesis Hillard and Adam Cox chipped in with two RBI a piece as well.

For the Bombers, Buddy Johnson went 3-for4 with three runs scored, Macy Holdsworth went 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored, and Trey Fulton went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

On the mound, Miner starter Garret Sendelbach (3-1) picked up his third win of the season, pitching 5.33 innings before handing the game over to the Miner bullpen. Bomber starter Matthew Munden took the loss for Dubois County.
