Miners Win 5-2 In Extra Innings At Muhlenberg County

The Miners ended their four game losing skid with a 5-2 victory over the Muhlenberg County Stallions on Sunday night in Greenville.

Miner starter Austin Henrich pitched 6-2/3 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits with three strikeouts, one walk, and one hit batter.

Henrich entered the bottom of the seventh with a 2-0 lead, when the Stallions tied the game up on a ground ball that hit the first base bag and bounced away from 1B Nick Keaton, driving in a run. Keaton then recovered the ball and threw it over the head of 3B Sam Browning, allowing the unearned tying run to score.

The score stayed tied from there until Brooks Benson drilled a three run home run off Stallion reliever Cortland Hampton  in the top of the 11th inning. Jonathan Joy shut the Stallions down in the bottom of the frame to seal the win for Madisonville.
