MIners Win Home Opener 18-5

The Madisonville Miners (1-0) kicked off the 2016 season with an 18-5 win over the Fulton Railroaders (1-1) Friday night at Elmer Kelley Stadium.

The Miners scored 18 runs on 15 hits and four errors by Fulton. The Railroaders scored 5 runs on 8 hits and two Madisonville errors.

Madisonville reliever Dylan Ladd picked up the Win, with Railroader starter Kyle Beach taking the Loss.  Ladd pitched 2.33 innings and allowed 2 H, 2 ER, and 1BB. Miner starter Jeff Lindgren also pitched 2.33 innings, allowing 4 H, 2 ER, and struck out 4.  Jack Rettig, Mitchell Bault, and Casey Elbin all saw action on the mound for Madisonville, with Konnor Aherin, Paris Cheek, Alex Phillips, and Matt Meihls all pitching for the Railroaders.

Madisonville was led at the plate by lead-off hitter Joe Kennedy, who went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Daniel Jackson went 2-for4 with 2 RBI and 3 scored, and Eugene Freeman went 1-for-1 with 4 walks, 4 runs scored, and 3 RBI.  JD Minor went 2-for-4 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI.

For Fulton, the Railroaders were led at the plate by Nick Shuemaker, who went 2-for5 with 2 RBI and 1 run scored. Andrew Swanson went 2-for-4 with one run scored. Chase Slone, Derek Burns, and Mac Edwards each chipped in with an RBI a piece.
