Paducah Chiefs Join OVL For 2016!!!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Brooks Stadium Commission joins Ohio Valley Summer Collegiate Baseball League

The Brooks Stadium Commission has signed a contract to join the Ohio Valley Summer Collegiate Baseball League (OVL) as the Paducah Chiefs.  “

On behalf of the OVL, we are thrilled to have the Paducah Chiefs become part of our outstanding summer collegiate league,” said Cubb Stokes, OVL President. “Paducah has a great heritage of having great baseball teams at all levels, and we look forward to playing at historic Brooks Stadium.”

The Chiefs will be coached by Greg McKeel, appointed General Manager of the baseball team by Dr. Frank Hideg, President of the Brooks Stadium Commission with unanimous approval of Commission members.

“The Brooks Stadium Commission has been researching and observing the OVL for the past three years and found it to be a viable, stable and respected league for summer baseball at Brooks Stadium,” said Hideg. “The Commission felt it would meet the needs of the community in providing summer college baseball that includes players from our area.”

“The Chiefs will provide great quality baseball for the city of Paducah, as well as an opportunity for hometown college players to come home and play in front of their friends and family during the summer and for ball players from all over the country to spend the summer in Paducah and make new friends for a lifetime,” said Stokes.

The Chiefs will be the fifth team in the six-team collegiate baseball league that once belonged to the Class D Professional Kitty League during the early to mid 1900’s (all but Huntingburg, IN). Paducah joins the Owensboro Oilers, Fulton Railroaders, Dubois County Bombers, Hoptown Hoppers and Madisonville Miners currently in the OVL.
