The Miners traveled to Chautauqua Park in Owensboro on Saturday night and defeated the Oilers by the score of 3-1.
Wesley Birchmeier homered in the top of the first inning to get Madisonville on the scoreboard, 1-0. The Miners picked up two more runs in the top of the third inning when Shane Connahan doubled and drove in Connor Moss and Birchmeier.
Owensboro scored its lone run in the bottom of the sixth inning when Josh Wetzel drove in Connor McHugh with a ground ball to second base.
Miner starting pitcher Drew Mullinax pitched six complete innings, allowing one run on five hits and one walk. Yancey Pritchett, Colin Hudson, and Colton Nussell each worked one shutout inning to close out the game. Mullinax picked up the Win, and Nussell picked up the Save.
Oiler starter Andrew Lyles took the Loss for the Oilers.
Madisonville ended the night with seven hits, while the Oilers scattered five hits. The complete Box Score is available HERE.
The win moved Madisonville to 22-15 on the season. Owensboro dropped to 9-29. The Miners stayed to 2.5 games behind first place Dubois County (25-13), who defeated the Hoppers (14-23) in Hoptown on Saturday night.

The Hoptown Hoppers visit the friendly confines of Elmer Kelley Stadium to face the Miners, while the Bombers make the trip south to take on the Oilers in Owensboro. Both games get underway at 7pm Central Time.
