Tuesday Night: Miners Win 6-2 In Fulton

Winning streak extended to four games

(From Fulton) Both the Miners (14-10) and Railroaders (15-10) matched with 9 hits and 2 errors each, but Madisonville made better use of their offense to extend their winning streak to 4 straight games.  The Railroaders’ 6-2 loss at home broke a 4 game winning streak for Fulton and places the Miners only a ½ behind the second place Railroaders.  Both teams also matched in leaving 8 runners on base.

The Miners took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning.  Matt Walsh singled, stole 2nd and made home on a Wesley Birchmeier RBI single.

Madisonville extended their lead in the 3rd inning scoring 2 more runs.  Gabe Franlkin reached on an error followed by a walk for Connor Moss.  Both advanced a base on a sacrifice bunt then scored on a 2 RBI single from Nolan Ramsey.

The Railroaders finally got on the board in the in the 5th inning.  RBI singles by Clay Reece and Brad Baldwin drove in two runners that had reached base on 2 Miner errors. The score now 3-2 in Madisonville’s favor.

The Miners piled on 3 insurance runs in the 8th inning.  Shane Connahan doubled to begin the inning and went to third on a sacrifice bunt.  Wesley Birchmeier then reached first on an infield grounder that was fielded and held to hold the runner at third base.  A walk then loaded the bases allowed for a Gabe Franklin RBI ground out for one scored followed up by a 2 RBI single from Connor Moss.  The final score was sealed at 6-2.

Starter Mathias Brewers earned the win for a good performance on the mound for 6 1/3 innings.  He gave up 8 hits for 2 runs (one earned), had only 1 walk and struck out 8 batters.  Nicholas Purpera and Colin Hudson closed out the game for Madisonville.

The loss goes to Logan Parrett who went for 6 innings. He allowed only 5 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.  Chandler Amason, Kyle Estand, and Trey Tigart combined for the final 3 innings giving up 4 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), 3 walks and 2 strikeouts.  Complete Box Scores Click Here.

Miners off Wednesday

The Miners have Wednesday night off before hosting Dubois County at Elmer Kelley on Thursday night.
