Miners beat league leading Oilers

Madisonville Miners 3, Owensboro Oilers 2.  The Miners picked up their seventh win at home on Monday against the first place Oilers in a game that was delayed twice for weather.  

     The Oilers took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning after Harold Diaz reached base hit by a pitch the advanced to 3rd base on wild pitches.  Diaz scored on a Taylor Mathews one out ground out.

     The Miners went ahead for a 2-1 lead in the 4th inning.  Rutger Luebke singled followed by a Kevin Dupree single.  Luebke scored off a Jake Perry RBI single and Dupree crossed home on a wild pitch.

     The game was tied up in the 5th as Owensboro scored one from a Morgan Grisham RBI single driving Tyler Adams in who had walked to start the inning.  The second and longest game detail then occurred after the completion of the bottom half of the inning.

     Play resumed after an hour and the Miners took a 3-2 lead in the 6th inning.  With the bases loaded, Josh Wetzel was hit by a pitch earning a RBI bringing in Kevin Dupree from third.

     The win goes to Jackson Everman in relief for 3 innings on the mound.  Abraham Almonte picked up a save finishing off the 9th inning.  Taking the loss for Owensboro was Jackson Lockhart for 2 innings of work and giving up the go ahead run.  Box Scores Click Here.
